HOUSE EXPANDS JOB CREATION EFFORTS;PROTECTS SMALL BUSINESSES

Des Moines, Iowa –State Representative Mark Smith, D-Marshalltown voted to continue to protectand create good paying jobs in Iowa and boostsupport for Iowa’ssmall businesses. 

“Despitetough budget times, we are keeping focused on help for middle class familiesand small businesses,” said Smith.  “The job creationplan we approved today will expand critical support for small businesses andhelp put Iowans back to work.”

House File 2522provides an additional $100,000 for Small Business Development Centers thatprovide one on one counseling and support to small businesses at 15 locationsacross Iowa.

It also expandsthe statewide MyEntereNet program to help accelerate the growth of firms most likelyto create jobs in Iowa while improving accessto services and capital for hundreds of other Iowa companies.

In addition, thebill continues support for over 55 Workforce Development Centers across Iowa that help theunemployed find work and job training assistance.  The centers alsoprovide services to employers looking to hire employees.


The bill now goesto the Senate.
